Terms of use
TavlArena is free to use. By playing you agree to these terms. They are short: play fair, be decent, and understand that the site comes as it is.
1. The service
TavlArena lets you play tavla and backgammon against bots and people, and offers puzzles, trainers and game analysis. It has no ads, no coins and no stakes, and it is not a gambling service: nothing on it has money value. We may add, change or remove features.
2. Fair play
- No outside help in games against people. Don't use engines, bots, analysis tools, databases or another person's advice while a game against a human is in progress, rated or not.
- Don't play against yourself with two accounts, arrange results, or deliberately lose to move ratings.
- Hints, undo and analysis are fine in games against the computer and in the learning tools.
- We run automatic checks on rated games. A flag is reviewed by a person; we may remove ratings or suspend accounts that break these rules.
3. Accounts
- You must be 13 or older to create an account. If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission. Anyone can play as a guest.
- One person per account. Keep access to your email or Google account safe; you are responsible for what happens in your account.
- Display names must not impersonate others or be offensive. We may change a name that breaks this.
- You can delete your account at any time on the Account page.
4. Behaviour
Don't harass other players, abuse the report or feedback tools, try to break or overload the service, get around limits, or access other people's data. Don't scrape the site or run automated play against people.
5. Dice and results
Dice in online games are sealed before each game and can be checked afterwards (see fair dice). Game results and ratings are recorded as played; we may correct them after a bug or a fair-play breach.
6. Our content and open-source parts
The site's design, text, images and code belong to TavlArena, except open-source parts used under their own licences (such as the wildbg engine and its networks). You may share links, screenshots and puzzles from the site. The dice verifier is published under the MIT licence.
7. No warranty, limited liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties. We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but games can be interrupted and data can be lost. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses; mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
8. Suspension
We may limit or suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts the service or other players at risk.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. We change the date below, and for important changes we tell signed-in players on the site. If you keep using TavlArena after a change, the new terms apply.
